Child Development

We feel that it is essential to offer a full day program designed for the whole child's development: intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically.

We encourage the development of the child's independence, self-care, awareness of self and others, interaction with those his/her age, identification with his/her feelings and with the feelings of others, large and small motor skills and safety.

The children's learning areas are designed and equipped for each age group. Staff help with instruction and motivation to create the proper atmosphere for learning and development.

Questions & Answers

What ages do you accept?

LWCD provides daycare for children 12 months through 12 years of age.

What are your hours?

The daycare center is open Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

What are the children taught?

Children are taught basic concepts, colors, numbers, letters, phonics and shapes throughout the day.
Children in the younger age groups learn best through play so we provide many opportunities for learning through play.
Children also explore science, art and music.
Pre-School instruction is designed to prepare them for kindergarten.
School age children are provided a quiet time for homework and study purposes during the school year. They are given time during the summer and breaks for reading and learning.

What other activities do you provide?

We periodically take the children on excursions and field trips, as ages by law permit and in accordance with our curriculum.

Are you a licensed facility?

LWCD is licensed with a Large Child Care Center classification.

Do you accept children still in diapers?

We do accept children that are not yet potty-trained.

Do you accept CCCAP and TANF?

Yes, CCCAP and TANF accounts are welcome.
